Section Membership

SECTION MEMBERSHIP

The purpose of the section is to provide an organization within The Florida Bar open to all members in good standing who have an interest in administrative law and procedure at both the state and federal levels. The Section provides a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas leading to the improvement and development of the fields of administrative law and procedure and agency practice. The section serves the public generally and The Florida Bar in interpreting and carrying out the professional needs and objectives in these fields.

Membership in the Section is open to any member of The Florida Bar in good standing. Any person who is not a member of The Florida Bar but who has an interest in administrative law and processes may become an affiliate member of the Administrative Law Section. Such persons may include but are not limited to members of administrative boards, agency staff, law students, legal assistants, members of the legislature and legislative staff, and other administrative personnel.

Members of The Florida Bar can join the Administrative Law Section electronically at any time through the member portal. Current members of the Section can renew their membership when they pay their annual dues, or if you miss this opportunity, through the member portal. Both affiliates and Bar members can also join by calling The Florida Bar at (850) 561-5831.

SECTION AWARD NOMINATIONS

The Administrative Law Section is seeking nominations for its highest awards: the S. Curtis Kiser Administrative Lawyer of the Year Award and the Administrative Law Section Outstanding Service Award.

The S. Curtis Kiser Administrative Lawyer of the Year Award is named after Senator S. Curtis Kiser, a 1967 graduate of the University of Iowa and a 1970 graduate of the Florida State University College of Law. Senator Kiser has a long and distinguished career in public service to the State of Florida. His public service includes: State Representative (1972-1982); Senator (1984-1994); Public Service Commission Nominating Council (1978-1994); General Counsel for the Public Service Commission; and Commissioner, Public Employees Relations Commission. During Senator Kiser’s legislative service, he was the prime sponsor of legislation that established the Florida Evidence Code and the Administrative Procedure Act.

The S. Curtis Kiser Administrative Lawyer of the Year Award will be presented to a member of the Florida Bar who has made significant contributions to the field of administrative law in Florida.

The Administrative Law Section Outstanding Service Award will be presented to a member of the Administrative Law Section Executive Council (other than the chair) who has provided outstanding leadership for the Section.
